If you’re wondering what all the fuss is about Twitter and you’re not sure if you should use it or understand it, check this out. Motrin posted an ad making fun of mothers for “wearing” their babies. The ad went up, mom’s starting blogging and tweeting about their difficulty with the ad and now Motrin’s website has been completely overwhelmed by the traffic. The overwhelming response is negative and the number of mothers involved is in the millions.
A lot of people I’ve spoken to have wondered about how to use Twitter to build their business. This is an example of how Twitter can be used to create massive discord around your brand. Time to pay attention. Social media just bit back.
